Hands on Experience with a variety of animals
Bring your class or year group to Drusillas Park and experience a fun and interactive day out. All sessions include creative teaching methods and hands on experience with a variety of animals. Sessions are accompanied by teacher packs containing background information and a range of classroom ideas. From pre-school through to BTEC and ‘A’ Level, Drusillas Park can provide curriculum linked sessions and resources for you and your students.

Tropical Rainforests
This session introduces the variety of rainforest life through sight, sounds, artefacts and animal encounters.
KEY STAGES 1 AND 2
Tropical Rainforests
Through sight, sound and animal encounters, the diversity of rainforest life is explored in our Rainforest Room.
Maasai Life
Through dressing in traditional costumes and examining many articles from everyday life, we look into the roles of the family members in the Maasai community.
Animal Encounters
Children can encounter four animals - this usually includes at least one reptile, mammal and invertebrate. KS2 pupils can additionally handle a selection of customs seized animal artifacts (available to KS1 on request).
Minibeasts
Explore the features of the invertebrates that have enabled them to become one of the most successful, diverse and fascinating animal groups in the world.
Fur, Feathers and Scales
We take a light hearted look at the way in which we group animals, and discover what makes a fish, amphibian, reptile, bird and mammal.
Habitats And Adaptations
Through innovative costumes and artifacts we discover the multitude of adaptations that animals have developed to ensure that they are perfectly suited to their environment.
Life Cycles
We take a look at a variety of animal life cycles, using costumes and artefacts to explain how animals grow up and become adults.
Animal Care
An Animal Care session enables children to gain expert knowledge and top tips in caring for pets at home. Children get close to a range of fascinating creatures and learn how to keep pets happy and healthy.
Conservation in Zoos
Find out why some animals are endangered, and how zoos look after their animals and work together to increase their numbers. Pupils are able to handle a range of animal artefacts on loan from HM Revenue & Customs.
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Animal Encounters
Encounter a range of animals and artifacts in this fun, sensory experience. Sessions can be themed to a particular topic on request.
VOCATIONAL SESSIONS
Drusillas Education Department offer an insight into the workings of a successful leisure attraction with vocational sessions covering Customer Service, Marketing, ICT and Managing a Visitor Attraction. Animal Care and the Role Of Zoos And Conservation are also available. All of these sessions include a tour of the Park with one of our Education Officers.
ICT
ICT is an integral component of Drusillas Park, whether enhancing our visitors enjoyment, maintaining animal enclosures or improving the efficiency of our business. This Powerpoint presented talk comes complete with an in-depth tour of the Park.
Animal Care
Animal Care sessions enable students how to gain expert knowledge in how we look after our exotic animals at Drusillas Park. Topics covered include enclosure design, group size, diet and enrichment and cover a host of animals from penguins to primates. This session can be focused upon our farmyard or Petworld animals if required.
Role Of Zoos And Conservation
This session looks at how zoos have evolved and improved to meet today's high standards. Discover how zoos work together globally to help increase and manage animal populations. Students can look at a range of HM Revenue & Customs seized artefacts.
Customer Service
Discover how our customer service helps make Drusillas Park a popular visitor attraction with high levels of repeat visits. Learn about Drusillas customer service standards and monitoring, staff training and how we respond to feedback.
Marketing
Learn about the marketing mix that has helped raise visitor numbers and make Drusillas one of the most popular attractions in the south-east. This talk focuses on target markets, market research, marketing strategies and secondary spend.
Managing A Visitor Attraction
This talk looks at Drusillas as a business and focuses on how the various departments within Drusillas help achieve our aims and objectives.
